The relationship between the speed and lateral pressure of the roller in the rubber mixing machine
- Types and properties of processed rubber materials
Different types of rubber result in different lateral pressures, and the same type of rubber material has different hardness and viscosity, resulting in different lateral pressures. The higher the hardness and viscosity, the greater the lateral pressure.
- Thickness of rolled products
The thinner the product thickness, the smaller the roller gap, and the greater the separation force. When the gap between the rollers is reduced, a large separation force will be generated between the rollers. This is because the smaller the gap between the rollers, the thinner the product thickness, and the rigid compression between the rollers increases the separation force. From the perspective of maintaining the rollers, this is not allowed for rubber mills.
- Roller diameter and rolling width.
The larger the roller diameter and rolling width, the greater the lateral pressure generated.
- The size of the rubber corner (i.e. the amount of material stored at the feeding port);
The larger the angle of the adhesive package, the larger the working surface of the roller, and the greater the lateral pressure.
- The speed of the roller
The relationship between the speed and lateral pressure of the rubber mill roller is quite complex.
(1) When the roller speed increases, the amount of molten material rolled per unit time increases, resulting in an increase in lateral pressure;
(2) As the speed of the roller increases, the friction and heat generation of the melt increase, and the temperature rise causes a decrease in the viscosity of the melt, resulting in a decrease in lateral pressure;
(3) The increase in roller speed leads to an increase in pressure, resulting in an increase in lateral pressure, etc. So, the relationship between roller speed and separation force is a comprehensive result of several aspects. According to actual testing, the increase in lateral pressure is relatively slow with the increase of roller speed.
- Temperature of the roller
The higher the processing temperature of the rubber mill roller, the lower the viscosity and flowability of the material, and the smaller the lateral pressure generated. Conversely, the larger it is.
- Method of adding rubber (continuous or intermittent)
When using a left-right swinging feeding method with sheet or strip materials, the feeding is relatively continuous and uniform, so the impact on the roller is small, and the fluctuation of transverse pressure is small. When using block feeding, the feeding is intermittent and uneven, and the impact on the roller is large, and the fluctuation of transverse pressure is also large.
